The Marillion music echoing in Brazil

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in the melting pot of diversity, the dizzying samba rhythm, the warmth of people's simplicity , an aspiring writer danced with the words lulled by Seasons End.

Once upon a time, a little girl named Lesli Olsson, moved by a writer's blood running through her veins, started to copy her old sisters poetry. “One fine day”, when  Lesli  was performing her daily copy ritual, her sister opens the door for Lesli's talent to finally emerge. Her sister took her by the hand, gave Lesli a notebook and told her: “if you want to write, do not copy, do it yourself and just let it flow”. Years later in 1990, Lesli, her sister and 85.000 people were touched by Marillions trilling performance at the Hollywood Rock Festival.

Lots of Lesli and her sister's writing were inspired by Marillions sensibility expressed in mastery of rhythm, harmony and skills. Six years later Lesli`s sister left this planet, abandoning her and taking away all her inspiration and ability to write. At that time of immeasurable pain, Lesli buried her writing and the Seasons End CD in the deepest corner of her soul. A year latter crossing the ocean Marillion returned her the inspiration that she had lost long ago. At the concert, Lesli cried tears of freedom, gratitude, happiness and emotion from witnessing the majestic spectacle of the transformation of sounds in a perfect electric symphony.

From that moment on Lesli, never stopped writing and it became what her sister had always known she would, deep in her soul she knew the reason of Lesli`s existence.

Now Lesli is going to the Holland convention to celebrate all these years of inseparable inspiration and let Marillion know that their music transcends worlds, universe and space.

  5. Wonderful story! I and a 41-year old Brazilian musician (male)and I follow Marillion/Fish since 1985 and, like Rush, Pink Floyd, Yes and all the other great progressive rock bands, their music is deep and complex, and the ones who have the sensibility to be touched by them are truly blessed. Your idea to share their music with other women is great, keep up the good work! If you ever want to listen to some new music in the line of the above bands, I invite you to visit my site www.soundcloud.com/abilioabreu (my music is not for sale, I do it just for the mission/gift I was given...)
